The time to lead the world to peace is at hand.

Are we brave enough to take that lead.

America is at it's lowest point of respect from the rest of the world. Those that once feared us now openly, and very publicly demonize the US. It had seemed that when the Berlin wall came down and the Soviet Union dissolved that socialism and communism very on their way out. Now it seems to be on the increase with more socialist leader speaking out against the US every day as if teaming up to create one formidable foe.

At some point one must take a step back and question why are all separate countries turning against the US and it's policies. After all we speak of democracy and aggression isn't part of democracy. We speak of peace and freedom, don't we?

Democracy, it's what everyone should want, right? Look at America with all our freedom. The world should be this way. Who doesn't want freedom? But what is democracy really? For use hear in America it's how we run our government. We elect people to represent us in congress, senate and white house. He who gets the most votes wins. (usually) These representatives go to their respective groups and again vote. With the most votes bills move from one to the other or are killed. Democracy, perfect.

Now lets look at other countries, in the middle east their mostly Muslim. So democracy may not seem like such a good idea to a Christian. Their views would always be in the minority unless it was a view they have in common with Muslims. And how about for an all Muslim country. Muslims are mostly from two groups, Shiite or Sunni. Most of these countries are heavily dominated by one or the other. These two groups have been fighting for centuries, do you think they like the idea of democracy? I guess if you're of the majority it would be great. Now if you have a democracy in a country where there are only two groups of people who have been at each others throats for centuries, do you think the ruling party will be very compassionate to these people?

The fact is democracy is nothing more than mob rule. The reason why it works so well here in America is because we are a melting pot of the world. Many individual groups with many individual needs who find common grounds and through a democratic process can run a government. Or in a country where the make of the people is so close that again common grounds make a democracy possible. So what should be done. If we can't spread democracy, what can we present to the rest of the world as our great plan for peace?

Liberty, the principles that America was found upon. We use the word Liberty in everything American except our foreign policy. And even in our internal policies we are losing more liberty in our governments laws. Our pledge of allegiance, our money, our constitution, our bill of rights. It's everywhere in American life. Liberty, except in our vocabulary. When was the last time you heard a politician saw the word Liberty? I don't think I ever heard it from a politician. Why don't we here the word liberty in or foreign policy? Why doesn't America say to foreign countries, we would like to see more liberty for your people? We would like to help you, but it must be in a way that promotes liberty? Why don't we ask our allies to give their populous a bill of rights just like Americans have?

We hear all the time that our enemies hate us. They hate what America stands for. Maybe what they hate is our policy of backing regimes that suppress their populous. Maybe they think how arrogant it is of us to demand or bill of rights for our selves and yet have no problem supporting a government that does the exact thing we so preciously protect ourselves from.

Maybe it's time to start promoting Liberty throughout the world.

Maybe it's time to start promoting throughout the world the idea that governments should not enact laws that repress any particular group. That governments need to be tolerant of all people within it's borders. You know, all men are created equal.

As for the middle east, until Shiite and Sunni can resolve the issues that have been tearing them apart for so long no peace will ever be found. We need to gather all Muslim leaders and clerics to start having peace summits to resolve the issues and governments of the region. Only then will we be able to leave Iraq without having more people wanting to kill Americans. We are in serious quagmire, you hear political leaders speak of winning the war. There is no winning. For either side. Death is never the answer, it only brings more death. Right now as far as Americans are concerned ether are two groups of people in Iraq. Those that like Americans and those that hate Americans. If we were to pull out and Iraq falls into a Sunni/Shiite civil war you will have two groups in Iraq, only this time they both hate America. To solve Iraq the Sunni/ Shiite issue must be dealt with. A democracy will never work in the middle east with it's current situation. On through Liberty can successful governments be formed.
